Abstract

The Amery Regional Medical Center opened a new western Wisconsin facility in 2007. The hospital set out to promote human health and wellness through an ecologically enhancing and engaging environment. The resulting landscape has created a synergy between the hospital, the adjacent Apple River and the greater Amery community. The project has served as a regional precedent for LID and many green infrastructure components including ½ acre green roof, porous pavement and bioretention.

This presentation will touch on the key development storylines including cost, modeled performance and construction sequencing. The balance of the talk will focus on the performance of the LID design 7-years post occupancy. Data on monitored performance and maintenance cost will be discussed along with insights from owner, patient and community interviews.
