The Evolution of LID Research: Validation, Optimization, and Implementation

Jason R. Vogel, Ph.D., PE, Assistant Professor, Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering

Abstract

Low impact development (LID) research in a region often follows a pattern that goes from validation to optimization to implementation.  This presentation will discuss each of these steps, with Oklahoma research examples for each.  Finally, next steps to achieve the ultimate goal of optimized, widespread implementation that will economically maximize co-benefits for the region, planned at a watershed scale, will be discussed.
